India sent 40,000 litres of Malathion, an eco-friendly pesticide, to Afghanistan to help the country fight locust swarms that cause serious agricultural damage. The pesticide was transported to Afghanistan via Iran’s Chabahar Port. Malathion suits arid regions and can not only control locust swarms in Afghanistan, but also prevent them from spreading to neighbouring countries. The support provided by India will help Afghanistan combat the locust menace and protect agricultural produce, thus ensuring food security.
