Increase in Fine Particle Pollutants 

According to a report by the Health Effects Institute (HEI), USA, 18 Indian cities have shown the most extreme increase in PM2.5 (fine particle pollutants) from 2010 to 2019. The report analysed air pollution of more than 7,000 cities with a focus on PM2.5 and nitrogen dioxide, the two most dangerous pollutants.

According to a report by the Health Effects Institute (HEI), USA, 18 Indian cities have shown the most extreme increase in PM2.5 (fine particle pollutants) from 2010 to 2019. The report analysed air pollution of more than 7,000 cities with a focus on PM2.5 and nitrogen dioxide, the two most dangerous pollutants.

According to the report, the increase is most severe in India and Indonesia, while the 20 cities with the greatest decrease in PM2.5 pollution are all in China. Among the world’s most populated cities, Delhi has the highest average level of fine PM2.5 and thus the highest cases of respiratory diseases.
