Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Geetika Srivastava has been appointed as the new charge d’affaires in Islamabad, Pakistan, making her the first female diplomat to hold this post in the Indian High Commission in Pakistan. Srivastava, who serves as a joint secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) headquarters presently, will replace Dr M Suresh Kumar after the completion of his tenure in the post. She is a 2005 batch IFS officer and has experience serving in the Indian embassy in China from 2007 to 2009, the regional passport office in Kolkata and the Indian Ocean Region Division in the MEA.
