If Kids Could Vote

Siddharth Srivastava, Class 4, Vasant Valley School, New Delhi

This year the Lok Sabha elections were held in India and only adults could vote. One day if the Lok Sabha allowed kids to vote, I would ask them to make a separate voting centre for us. We would make a junior-government that would put chairs in the waiting areas and set up drink stalls near the voting centre.
In the manifesto, I would vote for the party that would make separate hygienic toilets in public areas for kids and make education easily accessible for everybody. I would also vote for the party that would help us stop pollution. After kids read the manifesto if they want to do NOTA, there would be a chocolate for each party and whichever chocolate they like they would vote for that party because we get one vote in every 5 years.
We would ask the junior government to make the party names funnier and interesting. We would ask them to use candy-scented permanent ink instead of normal ink. We would ask the junior government to give us cool EVMs and shiny counting centres with glitter on them. There would be separate candidates for the junior government. For now, we know that kids can’t vote, though, I hope this can happen one day.
