I want to share interesting tips and techniques about forming good habits, like running 30 minutes a day and sticking to it.
1. Whenever you are forming a good habit, always start with small goals. For example, when I wanted to start the habit of exercising, I started with exercising only five minutes per day. After consistently doing it for a few days, I got the confidence that the goal is achievable. If I had started with a big goal of exercising 1 hour per day, I may have failed in it and felt demotivated.
2. After achieving the small goals for few days, gradually increase the goal. For example, I started exercising for five minutes per day, then gradually increased it to fifteen minutes, then thirty minutes, and now I can exercise for one hour.
3. It is natural to miss the habit forming routine ocassionally. I have learnt a rule that never miss the routine twice in a row. For example, I had to miss my exercise routine one day as I went out, but I made sure I exercised the next day so that I didn’t miss twice in a row
