An ex-British Gurkha soldier named Hari Budhamagar created history by becoming the first person with artificial legs to conquer Mount Everest. He is now the first double above-the-knee amputee in the world to ascend the 8,848.86mt peak. In 2010, during a mission in Afghanistan, Budhamagar lost both his legs. After the mishap, he began participating in Paralympic sporting activities. He has scaled many mountains including Mount Blanc, Mount Toubkal and Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about his condition.
