Grandma’s Tales: Righteousness 

Folktales, in general, and Indian folktales in particular, have stories that stress upon righteousness or right conduct. It is hard to concisely define what is meant by right conduct because what is ‘right’ depends heavily on the context.

Image Source: en.wikipedia.org Most folktales present a situation and the hero or heroine makes the most appropriate decision for that context. Prominent characters, such as Ram in the Ramayana, Yudhishtir in the Mahabharata and Buddha in the Jataka tales, are supposed to embody righteousness.
