Chinese firm Open Architecture has unveiled its design for the Yichang Grand Theatre, to be built where the Yangtze River meets the Huangbai River in China’s Hubei province. The theatre will be partly floating and have a building area of about 70,000sq mts. It will include a 1,200-seat concert hall, a 1,600-seat grand theatre, a 400-seat black box, a waterfront theatre and a rooftop theatre. The building will also have spaces for exhibitions, restaurants, rehearsal rooms and cafés, and will have natural light and ventilation. The theatre will be designed to resemble moving water and will be built in an environmentally friendly way.
