Gözleme: Turkish Stuffed Flatbreads

These delicious Turkish stuffed flatbreads are a must-try for kids and adults!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 
  • 2 cups chopped spinach 
  • 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped 
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed or finely chopped 
  • 100 grams feta cheese 
  • 3 tablespoons grated regular cheese (optional) 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Seasonings of choice (like chilli flakes and black pepper) 
  • Olive oil 

METHOD

  • Knead the all-purpose flour with some salt, oil and lukewarm water. 
  • Let it rest for an hour. 
  • Meanwhile in a bowl, add the chopped spinach, onion, garlic, feta cheese and seasonings. 
  • Mix it all well. 
  • Make a small ball from the kneaded dough and roll it out. 
  • Add the stuffing on one half of the rolled dough and cover it with the other half. Seal the dough, making sure the edges are sealed properly. 
  • Heat a pan or tawa, put the stuffed gözleme on it and cook well on both sides till they turn golden brown. 
  • Cut them into pieces and enjoy them hot.
