
A geographer studies the physical features of a region such as the soil, atmosphere, landforms and oceans and the cultural and other characteristics of the inhabitants of the region.
To be a geographer one must complete:
- Class 12, preferably in science
- 3-year bachelor’s degree in geography (BA/ BSc in geography)
- 2-year master’s degree in geography (BA/ BSc in geography)
- MPhil/ PhD in geography (optional)
Career Options: A geographer can work in the central or state government, schools, colleges research companies and architectural and engineering and related firms.
Job Roles: Geomorphologist, biogeographer, climatologist, hydrologist, Geographic Information System (GIS) technician, researcher, urban spatial planner, teacher or professor.
