To promote the idea of gender neutrality among young children, the Kerala government has introduced textbooks with depictions of male family members performing kitchen chores along with women. The books include images of fathers cooking snacks and scraping coconut, challenging ideas that household chores are only associated with female family members. This new initiative aims to instil the concept of gender equality in children from a young age and convey the message that household chores are the shared responsibility of both men and women.
