Manisha Ropeta is the first woman from the Hindu minority community in Pakistan to become a deputy superintendent of police (DSP). She stood 16th among 468 candidates who appeared for the Sindh Public Service Commission examination last year. Ropeta is one of the very few female officers in an authoritative position in the Sindh police and is currently being trained. She will be posted in Pakistan’s Lyari area. The 26-year-old, who is from Jacobabad in the Sindh province, believes that women are victims of many crimes in society. She aims to be a protector of women and hopes to promote gender equality in the police force.
