Alstom, a mobility company, delivered the first locally made semi-high-speed train to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on May 7. The train has been built for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). It will run between Delhi and Meerut at a speed of 180kms/hr and reduce travel time between the two cities by 40%. Made at the company’s factory in Savli, Gujarat, the train has been delivered in less than a year since production began. These trains are energy efficient and are designed to offer comfort and safety to commuters including the specially-abled.
