27-year-old MM Jayashree created history by becoming the first female pilot from the Baduga community. Jayashree belongs to Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district and is the daughter of a retired village administrative officer. She completed her computer science and engineering degree in Coimbatore and worked in the information technology (IT) industry. She had dreamt of becoming a pilot since childhood and decided to pursue this dream during the COVID-19 pandemic. She enrolled in a flying school in Johannesburg, South Africa, and became a pilot by clearing several tests and completing the required flying hours. Jayashree wishes to acquire a commercial pilot license soon.
