Finding Treasure in Pleasure

Aaryav Adhikary, Class 4, The Down Town School, Guwahati

It was time for Jack and Zinnia to return home after vacations, leaving their grandparents behind. They would pack their bags early next morning. Both brother and sister felt unhappy as they did not want to leave their grandparent’s house so early. It was great fun living with grandma and grandpa. As they packed their luggage, grandpa asked them, “Do you want to go for a treasure hunt?” The children were so excited  that they said they would. Then grandpa told them that there would be a time limit set for the hunt. He said, “You have to find out the treasure chest by evening. The time cannot be extended.” Agreeing to what grandpa had said, both the children started running about here and there. They first went to the garden to see if the treasure was anywhere around. They looked under the shed. They also peeped inside the old well in search of the treasure. However, there was nothing to be found anywhere. The children did not waste time. They went inside the house to carry on with the hunt. They started looking in all places of the house but they unable to locate any treasure. They ran up to the attic and among the bundle of things the children hoped to find some of the best things. But unfortunately there was nothing to be found and the children felt miserable. They came out of the attic and Jack said, “I don’t think we will be able to find the treasure chest within the given time limit. We are sure to be unsuccessful this time.” Just then Zinnia noticed the cupboard and found a golden chest full of special things. There were old watches, old toys, some jewellery, an old story book and lots more. Grandpa was very happy with the performance of the children. He said, “As a reward both of you can keep something from the treasure box.” Zinnia took the story book and the watch and Jack kept the toys for himself. It was an unique experience for them indeed and when they went to bed that night they dreamt of all the exciting things they did that day.
