Fazal Rehman, an Indian orthopaedic spine surgeon, created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Hallett Medal. The medal is given to candidates who score the highest marks and demonstrate excellent performance in the UK’s Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examinations. Rehman was presented with the award by the president of the Royal College of Surgeons of England at the diplomat’s ceremony in London, UK. Rehman is currently pursuing a specialised degree in spine surgery from the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, Delhi, and holds an MBBS degree and a postgraduate degree in orthopaedic surgery.
