An enormous planet that is about nine times the mass of Jupiter has been observed by scientists. This planet, called AB Aurigae b, is still in its early stages of formation. According to scientists, this is the earliest stage of formation that has ever been observed for a gas giant. The planet was studied using the Subaru Telescope and the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope and it was found that the process of formation of this planet is different compared to other planets. AB Aurigae b is among the largest of the 5,000 exoplanets that have been identified.
