  • Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has collaborated with Sarla Aviation to introduce electric flying taxis in four Indian cities.
  • This effort is set to promote clean and quick transportation in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Delhi, cities that experience the heaviest traffic. Through this initiative, the organisations will introduce seven-seater electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
  • These aircraft are expected to cut travel time significantly and provide economical transportation in the cities. For example, the aircraft are expected to decrease the travel time between Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and Electronics City from around three hours by road to 19 minutes.
  • The electric flying taxis will also decrease carbon emissions and pave the way for eco-friendly travel.
