Students from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands have developed an electronic vehicle (EV) that takes in carbon dioxide (CO2) released by other vehicles and cleans the air as it travels along the road. To reduce waste and decrease the vehicle’s carbon footprint, most of the Zero Emission Mobility (Zem) car’s parts, including the body panels, were 3D printed. Recycled plastics were used to make the car’s interiors.
The car uses direct air capture technology, which operates with filters. It can absorb 2kgs of CO2 after being driven for 32,000kms. The car also possesses solar panels on its roof and bonnet to make use of alternative energy.

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by 50% in less than 200 years due to human activities.
