What you need to do to build a career as a Dentist.

A dentist diagnoses and treats problems related to the teeth and gums. Dentists may specialise in paediatric dentistry, orthodontics or other fields related to oral health.

To be a dentist one must complete:

  • Class 12 in science
  • 5-year bachelor’s degree in dental surgery (BDS)
  • 3-year master’s degree in dental surgery (MDS)
  • PhD in dentistry or oral and dental sciences (optional)

Career Options:
A dentist can work in a private or government hospital or a dental office or start their own clinic. They can also teach in a dental college or university.
Job Roles: General dentist, dental consultant, orthodontist, pedodontist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, prosthodontist and professor.
