This year, Delhi witnessed its highest rainfall in the month of January in 32 years; it was also the season’s coldest month. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded nearly 70mm of rainfall. The last highest rainfall in the month of January in the capital was recorded in 1989, at 79.7mm. Other parts of the country also witnessed rain. According to a report by the IMD, a western disturbance brought with it desert sand cover over Mumbai and also caused the temperature to dip to a minimum of 12˚C.
