Recently, Debscord, the debating society of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, organised DebCon4, the fourth edition of its intra-school debating competition.
Recently, Debscord, the debating society of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, organised DebCon4, the fourth edition of its intra-school debating competition. The two-day event saw the participation of students from classes 6 to 12.
The first segment was held on May 6. The topics for debate included ‘The abolition of gendered media awards’ and ‘Banning child actors’. This segment was carried out in the Oxford debating format. The students presented their views confidently and passionately and six participants triumphed.
The competition’s second segment was held on May 7. It saw the participation of students from classes 9 to 12. The segment was held in the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) format and comprised debates on topics including ‘Fandom culture has done more harm than good’. In the segment’s final round, class 9 opposed class 10 and class 11 opposed class 12. The proposition side in both rounds emerged victorious.
Everyone involved in the competition, from participants and judges to volunteers and the audience, was instrumental in its success.
