A device that can generate electricity from humidity in the air has been developed by researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in USA. The researchers found that almost any material can be transformed into a device capable of continuously harvesting electricity from humidity in the air if the material possesses nanopores with a diameter of less than 100 nanometres. Clouds contain charged droplets of water that give rise to lightning bolts. Researchers created a small, human-built cloud that can produce electricity continuously due to the charge imbalance of water molecules.
