A design studio named Playfool, which is based in Japan, has created crayons that are made from pigments of waste trees and wood. The firm created 10 different shades of crayons by extracting pigments from trees such as cypress, hazenoki, magnolia and cedar. These pigments are mixed with natural wax and shaped in moulds. This creation reflects Playfool’s aim to make use of Japan’s resources to develop sustainable products. These crayons were introduced by Playfool for the first time in 2021 and can now be purchased on the firm’s online store.
