In the village of Mitralaya, there lived two friends, Arshita and Maya. Even though they were best friends, they were different from each other. They came from different places, enjoyed diverse cuisines, and even spoke different languages. But they were united through one quality: creativity. They both loved creating stories, drawing, painting, and more.
One day, while they were painting a scenery, something caught Arshita’s eye. It was a bright red kite flying high in the sky. Ever since she was little, she had been fond of kites with bright and attractive colours. Arshita decided to paint it into her scenery. Maya noticed her friend’s fascination.
When Maya went home, she decided to buy some drawing supplies for herself. But the excitement and interest Arshita had for the kite stayed on her mind. Maya broke her favourite, magnificent-looking piggy bank and gathered a few bucks. Placing the money on the table, she started counting. “Are these enough to buy such an expensive kite?” she wondered. She then collected her pocket money for the whole month and bought an expensive kite for her best friend without hesitation. She wrapped it in a beautiful thin sheet of wrapping paper.
The next day, she handed the package to Arshita. When Arshita opened the gift, she was dumbstruck. Maya could see unbounded happiness in her eyes.
Maya said, “I knew this is what you wanted.”
Arshita replied, “It is my favourite! Thank you!” She started examining the kite, noting the colours and the quality of the paper. She realized that it was an expensive kite and exclaimed, “You blockhead! Why would you waste your money on such an expensive kite?”
“Just for your happiness,” Maya replied.
Arshita admired Maya’s selflessness, grabbed her, and hugged her tight. Maya was happy as Arshita was thankful.
Years later, life took them on different paths. They bid adieu, as Arshita became a famous artist and Maya became a successful fashion designer. One day, they decided to reunite in their village.
Sitting on their favourite rock, Arshita asked, “Remember this place?”
“Yes!” replied Maya.
“This is where I gifted you that kite,” she said.
“I still have it. It is so cool!” said Arshita.
They walked around the village, refreshing their childhood memories, smiling, laughing, and enjoying. Their friendship had never faced any conflicts. They were friends forever. Both promised to stay loyal to their friendship. They understood and helped each other in every way possible. It is good to have a strong friendship that helps us stay positive.
