A recent study found that polar bears are having trouble finding food as climate change is causing ice in the Arctic Sea to melt. For the study, scientists monitored the diet and activities of 20 polar bears in Hudson Bay, Canada, over a three-year period. Polar bears use floating ice sheets to hunt seals, which is their main food source. But as climate change has caused the duration of ice-free periods in the Artic regions to increase, polar bears are forced to live on land for longer. Scientists observed that while living on land, polar bears lost weight as their food sources were limited. The study shows that as sea ice disappears, polar bears will find it difficult to survive.
