A study found that the speed of the Earth’s rotation is being affected by climate change, which in turn will affect the measurement of time. According to scientists, melting ice at the Earth’s poles and alterations in the liquid core of the Earth have affected the Earth’s rotation. To adjust time according to the Earth’s rotation, timekeepers had proposed subtracting a second, called a negative leap second, from the global clock in 2026. However, studies are being carried out to zero down on the right time to do so.
