The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering revising the academic curriculum of classes 10 and 12. As per the new curriculum, class 10 students will have to study three languages along with seven other subjects. Two of the languages in the curriculum will be native Indian languages. Class 12 students will have two languages including one native Indian language in their curriculum. Under the new framework, the number of subjects in which children have to pass to be promoted to the next grade has also been increased for classes 10 and 12. These revisions are part of the board’s attempt to incorporate a national credit framework in the education system.
