Maharashtra’s School Education and Sports Department has instructed all pre-primary and primary schools up to class 4 to start their classes at or after 9am from the academic year 2024-2025. The implementation of this initiative will be mandatory in both private and public schools across the state in a bid to ensure that children get adequate sleep and stay healthy. This decision was taken as many children sleep late due to a modern lifestyle and access to technology. The initiative aims to eliminate physical and mental health issues in children as a result of sleep deprivation.
