Celebrating Loving Bonds

Valentine’s Day, celebrated annually on February 14, honours St Valentine. On this occasion, people express their love and heartfelt gratitude towards those they cherish and treasure. Some relationships transcend distance and time, providing unwavering support that persists through every situation. Such bonds form the foundation of life, offering strength and warmth during challenging times. SCARLETT RODRIGUES asked a few RobinAgers about the people they hold dear and the moments when these individuals made them feel valued. Here’s what they had to say.

The person that I am closest to is my father. I love him a lot. My father always encourages me to try new things and overcome my fears, reminding me that it is important to grow from my experiences. A special memory of ours that I will always cherish is our trip to Bheeman Falls in Tamil Nadu. Initially, I was scared to step inside the falls, but my father helped me to get inside. After that, I enjoyed the falls and happily played in the water. My father is not just my dad, but also my best friend.

The two people I love and cherish the most are my cousin sister Mysha and cousin brother Megh. My cousin sister always shares my joys and sorrows and corrects me when I am wrong. One of the most precious memories with her is from the time my mother scolded me for making mischief. I was feeling very upset on that day but she comforted me by helping me differentiate between what was right and wrong. My cousin brother Megh is also someone I appreciate. He keeps my secrets safe and cheers me up when I am sad. I remember a day when I was disappointed about something; he kept cracking jokes to cheer me up and make me smile.

I love and appreciate each of my family members as each of them has an important role to play in my life. All of them make an effort to make me feel loved and special. My brother makes me feel special when he takes time out of his busy schedule to play with me. Learning to bake a cake with my mother is another instance that made me feel cherished and loved. My family made me feel on top of the world when they organised a surprise birthday party. Furthermore, my father gifted me a giant pop-up card on my birthday. I love my family very much and they are the most precious thing to me.

My father holds the most important place in my life. I love him the most for being kind-hearted and helpful towards me and everyone in my family. Whenever I do something wrong, my father always politely corrects me, thus inspiring me not to repeat the same mistake. He always calms me down and eases my pain whenever I injure myself while playing. He seldom loses his patience with me. So, I hope to be just like him someday and I am very thankful to him for all that he does  for us.

One person I love and adore is my childhood friend, Tanaya. Though she does not stay close to my house, we meet on some weekends and also go on trips together. Some of our most memorable and fun times are when we go on animal safaris. We go animal watching early in the morning and then play for the rest of the day. I like Tanaya very much because we have similar interests like drawing and dancing and we both learn new things from each other. I feel very special when Tanaya gives me cute handmade things like cards and bookmarks every time we meet.

All my family members and friends are dear to me; however, the person who is there for me in every situation is my mother. She is the one person I can rely on at any time and place. I am grateful to her for all that she does for me. One instance where she made me feel special was on my birthday. She organised the whole celebratory event by herself. I appreciate her efforts in organising a terrific get-together for me and my friends. There is no other love in the world that compares to a ‘mother’s love’. I love and admire my mother so much and for me the word MOTHER stands for:

  • Motherhood
  • Outstanding nature
  • Tolerance
  • Hard work
  • Ecstatic behaviour
  • Radiance
