A female officer named Captain Rheeya Sreedharan broke new ground by becoming the first second-generation female army officer to receive the Indian Army’s prestigious Aviation Wings. Officers receive the Aviation Wings upon completion of the Combat Aviators Course, recognising their qualification as combat helicopter pilots. Sreedharan underwent 11 months of intensive training to accomplish this outstanding feat. She pursued a path similar to that of her father Brigadier Kaushal Sreedharan, who served in the military and was a part of the Indian Army Southern Command.
