Campi Flegrei, a super volcano located near Naples in Italy, is on the verge of eruption. This volcano last erupted in 1538. The recent rise in the number of earthquakes in the region has led to the weakening of the volcano’s crust and scientists fear that the eruption could be likely. If the eruption is similar to the one in 1538, it could result in the discharge of volcanic gases, molten rock, toxic ash and sulphur that would damage crops, destroy wildlife and cause a lengthy global winter. Close to a million people reside in the volcanic region in Italy.
