- Pratap Sarnaik, Maharashtra’s transport minister, announced that a cable car project, which aims to address issues related to transport in Mumbai, has obtained in-principle approval from Nitin Gadkari, the union minister for road transport and highways.
- The project, which will be carried out in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, is expected to offer an effective transportation alternative and decrease emissions.
- It will reduce the travel time between Palghar and Uran-Pen in Maharashtra and between Mumbai’s suburbs and the city’s new airport.
- A detailed project report of the proposed cable cars will be made after which further approvals for the project will be obtained.
