From Troublemaker to Track Star: Ghost’s Race Against His Past

Novel: Ghost

Author: Jason Reynolds

Main Characters: Castle “Ghost” Cranshaw, Coach, Sunny, Patty, Lu

Setting: The novel is set in a small town in United States of America

Plot: Castle Cranshaw aka Ghost joins the track team (running) in his area, after he discovers his hidden talent for running. But, he always gets into trouble with school authorities, as he gets into silly fights. Can he outrun his past?

My Favourite Character is Coach, because I like the way he solves problems and the way he coaches his track team.

My Favourite Part is Newbie Dinner where the core characters share their secrets. Crisis: Ghost has a haunting past that he tries to outrun. He also has a social crisis, as he thinks he is treated differently because he lives in a less popular area.

In my opinion, the novel has many interesting scenes such as stealing the silver bullets, Newbie Dinner, conversation between Ghost and the coach.
Overall, it is an interesting book and worth reading.
