A blue Aadhaar card, also called the Baal Aadhaar card, has been introduced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for children below the age of 5.Â
The card has a unique identification number that is similar to the one on Aadhaar cards issued to adults. It does not require a child’s biometric information as it is linked to the parents’ unique identification number (UID).Â
Once children turn five and after that 15, their biometrics have to be updated at Aadhaar enrollment centres to maintain the validity of the card.Â
One can carry out the registration process for the card on UIDAI’s website.Â
The Blue Aadhaar card will serve as identity proof and will help children avail of government schemes, scholarships and other benefits.Â
