Try these crispy fritters and for more nutrition, add vegetables to the batter.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup urad dal
2 tablespoons rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
ÂĽ cup green onion, finely chopped
3 to 4 green chillies, finely chopped
Chopped coriander
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Oil for frying
METHOD
Soak the urad dal and rice together for 4 to 5 hours.
Grind them together with minimal water.
Whip the mix well with your hands so it becomes fluffy.
Add the onions, chillies, coriander, salt and cumin seeds and whip it well again.
Heat some oil in a kadhai for frying.
Wet a spoon or your hands with water, take a spoonful of the batter and release it in the hot oil.
Fry it on a medium flame till it becomes golden brown.
Enjoy with green chutney, tomato chutney or tomato sauce.
Note: The more you whip, the fluffier and better the baras will be. For more nutritious baras, add vegetables like chopped carrots and spinach.
