A global ban on the use of smartphones in schools has been recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in order to enhance children’s education and reduce the negative impact of smartphones on them. According to UNESCO, the overuse of mobile phones causes distraction, harms students’ emotional stability and negatively affects their academic performance. The organisation stated that technology should be employed to supplement teaching and should not take the place of face-to-face interaction between teachers and students.
