Climate change has led to Spain experiencing high temperatures more frequently. Because of this, the country has planned to ban outdoor work in extreme heat conditions. The government has taken this step due to numerous climate-related incidents including deaths of outdoor workers because of heat strokes. Outdoor work including street cleaning will be banned when the national weather agency, Agencia Estatal De Meteorologia (AEMET), issues an alert warning the country about extreme heat conditions.
