An application that helps manage the attendance of school staff and teachers has been rolled out by the Nagaland school education department in all the state’s government schools. The application, called the SMILE app, employs advanced tools including geofencing and facial recognition. This initiative is being carried out as part of the Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (Nagaland Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources) and records leave and attendance details, enhancing administrative operations. Staff and teachers have been instructed by the department to make use of the SMILE app kiosks at their institutions to record their attendance every day.
