HRH Group of Hotels Founder Arvind Singh Mewar: 1944-2025

Descendant of Rajput king Maharana Pratap, Arvind Singh Mewar, also known as Shriji, died on March 16 at the age of 80 following a prolonged illness.

Descendant of Rajput king Maharana Pratap, Arvind Singh Mewar, also known as Shriji, died on March 16 at the age of 80 following a prolonged illness. He was the 76th custodian of the House of Mewar, a dynasty with an unbroken lineage of over 1,400 years. The second son of Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar and Sushila Kumari, Arvind Singh was born in Udaipur. His early schooling was completed at Mayo College in Ajmer. In addition to studying political science, economics and English literature, he also studied hospitality in the UK and USA. He was the head of the HRH Group of Hotels, which managed a number of Rajasthani heritage properties. Through the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, he was directly active in cultural preservation, emphasising educational programmes, heritage preservation and the advancement of the arts. A few years ago, one of his daughters, Padmaja Kumari was a regular contributor at RobinAge.
