DarkSky International, an organisation that works towards protecting the night sky, has certified the Oregon Outback in Oregon, USA, as the largest dark sky sanctuary in the world. The sanctuary covers an area of 2.5 million acres and the certification will promote its conservation. 

To protect the marine environment, RPG Foundation, with the help of a non-governmental organisation called Kuddle Life Foundation, set up 210 artificial reefs in the Arabian Sea near Worli in Mumbai under project ‘Project nature:re’. The artificial reefs, made of steel and cement, will act like natural reefs and enhance fish breeding, function as a carbon sink and support the fishing occupation. 

Maruti Suzuki India Limited completed automating its first driving test track at the Driver Training and Testing Institute in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, which will ensure that only skilled drivers are issued licenses. The track has a fully computerised testing system comprising numerous facilities such as high-definition cameras, which will enable efficient driving tests. 

The Ecuador Ministry of Tourism has doubled the entry fee for most foreign visitors visiting the Galapagos Islands from August 1, 2024. The decision has been taken to control the number of tourists visiting the location as the increase in visitors has been negatively impacting the ecology of the region. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win its first Women’s Premier League (WPL) title at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on March 17. Five teams competed in the WPL 2024, which took place from February 23 to March 17.
