A medieval treasure that is believed to be around 1,000 years old was discovered by a historian in Hoogwoud in the Netherlands. The treasure comprises 39 silver coins, the youngest of which dates back to about 1250, two strips of gold leaf and four golden ear pendants. The treasure was examined by experts at the National Museum of Antiquities in the Netherlands. The reason for the burial of the treasure is unclear and it is assumed that it was buried by someone during a war that took place between Holland and West Friesland in the middle of the 13th century. The treasure will be displayed at a museum.
