Archaeologists discovered the remains of a 2,800-year-old human settlement in Vadnagar, Gujarat. The settlement, which according to archaeologists dates back to 800 BC, shows the presence of seven cultural periods including the Mauryan, Indo-Greek and Sultanate-Mughal periods, proving that the site was inhabited by different rulers and people of different cultures and religions over the years. During the excavation, archaeologists found one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and a variety of artefacts including gold and silver objects, bangles, coin moulds and pottery items.
