Researchers at the Amgueddfa Cymru-Museum Wales in the UK have discovered a fossil site containing extraordinary fossils of sea creatures. Nearly 170 tiny creatures have been discovered, many of which belong to unknown species. A large number of sponges, worms, barnacles and starfish were also discovered. These fossils are thought to date from the Middle Ordovician period and are over 460 million years old. The fossils are unique because the soft parts such as the eyes, brain and intestines of the organisms are well preserved. This discovery will help researchers understand the evolution of life during the Middle Ordovician period.
