Archaeologists discovered a Paleolithic cave art site in Spain, which dates back over 24,000 years. The artwork was found deep inside a cave known as Cova Dones or Cueva Dones in Spain’s eastern Valencia region and has more than a hundred designs. A variety of animals including horses, hinds (female deer), deer and aurochs (extinct cattle species) as well as conventional signs were depicted in the artwork. Red clay from the floor of the cave was used to create this art and artists made designs using their fingers and palms. Archaeologists believe that the artwork has been preserved for centuries due to the humid environment of the cave.
