Srujana Bhat, Class 8, The Samhita Academy, Bengaluru
It was
A forgotten dream
A cryptic smile
A mere nothing
But its intricate engravings
And vintage stitching
Rather caught her fancy
So the little enigma of a nameless brand
Wound its way into her hands
The veil of a Mona Lisa
Now unfurled
Now impearled
Through a flurry of words
A portal to unseen worlds
An escape from the harsh reality
A refuge from brutality
She’d write about her dreams
Her sorrows and screams
Buried deep
She would leap
From stone to stone
From fear to fear
From page to page
From stage to stage
That little enigma
A nib that wrote a thousand words
A body which caught a thousand eyes
Its presence which eased a thousand fears
A quill that bore a thousand tears
Ink which comforted a thousand lies
A pen that changed a million lives.
