Iranian artist Arghavan Khosravi has started to make hair the hero of her paintings. Her paintings pay tribute to Mahsa Amini, the 22-year-old who died in police custody after being arrested for not wearing her hijab properly. While speaking about her new work, Khosravi said, “These days when I’m painting hair, I’m filled with anger and hope. More than ever.” Khosravi also had an encounter with the morality police in 2011. Her work was on display at the Rockefeller Center in New York City, USA, through mid-November.
