Madhya Pradesh’s famous tigress, Collarwali died at the age of 16 years after a prolonged illness. The legendary tigress earned the title of ‘supermom’ after giving birth to 29 cubs in eight litters during a span of 11 years—between 2008 and 2018. The tigress was radio-collared in March 2008 and then again in January 2010, which earned her the name ‘Collarwali’. She played an important role in helping the state achieve the Tiger State status. In 2018, Madhya Pradesh had 526 big cats.
