Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards, better known as Vivian Richards, is a former West Indies cricketer. He was honoured with the Order of the Caribbean Community, an award given to Caribbean nationals for their outstanding legacy in the political, social, economic and cultural transformation of Caribbean society. He received the award on July 3 at the 43rd Conference of Heads of Government in Suriname in South America. Richards entered the West Indies men’s cricket team in 1974. He captained the team between 1984 and 1991. He is considered to be one of the most aggressive and successful batsmen in the history of cricket. During his career, he played 187 One-Day International (ODI) and 121 Test matches, scoring 11 and 24 centuries in each form, respectively. He was part of the World Cup-winning team in 1975 and 1979.
