- A rare compilation of 688 handwritten reflections by Mahatma Gandhi fetched ₹16.2 crore at an auction conducted by Saffronart, an auction house.
- The reflections in the compilation, called ‘A Thought for the Day’, were written to Anand T Hingorani, a freedom fighter and confidante of Mahatma Gandhi. The notes cover various topics, including ‘ahimsa’.
- The messages, which were written over two years, were intended to motivate and comfort Hingorani, whose wife had passed away.
- ‘A Thought for the Day’ offers insight into Gandhi’s values, principles and compassionate relationships with his associates, making it historically significant.
